Australian Tree Seed Centre

The Australian Tree Seed Center (ATSC) web site is run by CSIRO Forestry and Forest Products, and is involved in maintaining floral biodiversity, researching the genetic variation of Australia’s woody flora, and offering expertise in using the appropriate tree seeds for varying conditions and circumstances.

ATSC also collects and supplies seeds around the world (with more than 1200 species of mainly of Australian seeds currently held in storage) and maintains the TREDAT database (recording trials utilising Australian species, with growth data from these trials accumulated to establish a centralised performance register).

ATSC also offers training in tree seed technology, with short courses in tree breeding are conducted from time to time.

There is a section on farm forestry which provides seed and information support for commercial farm forestry.
