New  Pollination Australia booklet now online
At a workshop in April 2007, the honeybee industry and other pollination stakeholders evaluated opportunities and threats to the pollination industry and set initial directions to develop paid pollination services as a self sustaining industry. The workshop was funded by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) under their Industry Partnerships Program. At this workshop, it was agreed that an incursion of Varroa destructor poses one of the greatest threats to Australian horticulture and other plant based industries. The workshop agreed to develop a business plan that can be independently managed by an industry alliance. This alliance is known as Pollination Australia.  Download the booklet here

RIRDC Advisory Committee and Research Provider Forum Report
A forum including the RIRDC Board, key Research Partners, Advisory Committees and management was held in September 2007 to open discussion between those responsible for RIRDC’s R&D plans and project selection with those who partner in providing the research.
The forum provided an opportunity to:
  • inform participants on RIRDC’s directions;
  • consult on significant R&D policy and management issues and thereby strengthen our partnership;
  • identify specific and shared issues facing partners, committees and their industries; and
  • look at the issue of research partner capacity.
A report detailing these discussions and their outcomes is available for download (PDF 350kb)

Expressions of Interest for RIRDC Advisory Committees
RIRDC invites suitable candidates to submit an Expression of Interest to the Corporation to be considered for a register of prospective committee members. RIRDC has a single, specific objective: to maximize the contribution of our R&D investments to the profitability, sustainability and resilience of rural industries and communities. RIRDC’s Advisory Committees play a crucial role in helping to shape strategic research plans and identify the best research to implement them. The expertise of individual committee members is critical to this role.  Click here for more information.
