Research projects - expressions of interest sought 16 Nov 2012

The Rural Industries R&D Corporation is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced individuals or organisations to carry out research or analysis into one or more of the following issues:

Enterprise engagement in resource markets
A scoping study is sought to understand the current state of knowledge around how farm enterprises engage with market based mechanisms (e.g. water allocations, carbon and biodiversity), the level of engagement that exists/does not exist, and why and how choices about engagement with markets are made. The scoping study should explore and report on the state of knowledge as it relates to these issues and identify future directions and priorities for work in this area. Understanding the agricultural and veterinary chemical market and product availability in Australia
A better understanding of the Australian market for agricultural and veterinary chemicals is sought to provide insight into the factors affecting choice in the market. The type of information sought through this study includes analysis and discussion on the range of chemicals available in other countries when compared to the chemicals available in Australia and the type, nature and significance of any ‘gaps’ in control tools available to Australian producers. The benefits of pursuing North Asian Free Trade Agreements
A study is proposed to quantify the costs of Australia not completing bilateral FTA’s with Korea, China and Japan. This study will consider the implications of other countries completing trade agreements with these north Asian countries, and the extent to which Australian export industries would be disadvantaged. Road transport trends in Australian agriculture
A study is proposed to deliver an analysis of what constitutes the current agricultural vehicle fleet used by farmers to transport farm produce and inputs, and insight into the trends in ownership and operation of this fleet. Download the full terms of reference.

The closing date for submissions is Friday 14 December 2012.
