Positions Vacant: RIRDC Deer RD&E Reference Panel 21 Aug 2013

The Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation (RIRDC) is seeking the services of suitably qualified people to apply for two positions on the RIRDC Deer RD&E Reference Panel. 
The Panel consists of persons with a range of skills and experience in the research, production and processing sectors of the deer industry, together with a representative of the Corporation.

The key functions of RIRDC Reference Panels are to:

  • advise RIRDC on the current state of the industry, and its RD&E requirements;

  • provide recommendations on short-listed research applications consistent with the research priorities identified in the RIRDC Deer Five Year RD&E Plan;

  • advise on and assist with the dissemination, adoption and commercialisation of R&D; and

  • encourage industry voluntary contributions and co-investment by other stakeholders to support deer RD&E.

Please note that Reference Panels do not hold any financial delegations, do not have the power to commit RIRDC to funding particular project or activities, and are not reimbursed for their services.

The Deer Reference Panel will meet, on average, twice per year, via teleconference. Additional meetings may be held where a need a can be demonstrated. Panel members will be appointed by the RIRDC Managing Director, following consultation by Julie Bird with relevant industry stakeholders. The term of appointment is for three years. The member appointed as Chair of the Deer Reference Panel will also sit on the wider RIRDC Animal Industries RD&E program Advisory Committee.

Unless special circumstances are apparent, members of the executive of the Deer Industry Association of Australia are not eligible to apply to sit on the Reference Panel.
