New RIRDC Chair announced 01 Sep 2016

Mrs Kay Hull AM has been appointed Chair of the Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation (RIRDC) by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources, the Hon Barnaby Joyce.

 

The well-known Riverina personality, business woman, community leader and former Federal Member of Parliament brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her new role.

 

RIRDC Managing Director John Harvey welcomes her appointment. “I look forward to working closely with Mrs Hull to deliver technical and business solutions that increase the profitability of rural industries and enhance the prosperity of regional communities.”

 

The appointment of Mrs Hull took effect 2 August 2016.

 

Paying tribute to the outgoing RIRDC Chair, Mr Harvey says, “I acknowledge and thank Professor Daniela Stehlik for the passion and commitment she has demonstrated during her watch as RIRDC Chair.

 

“During her 6-year term Professor Stehlik demonstrated a particular interest and concern for the wellbeing of regional communities and, in particular, the important and unique roles women and young people play in modern agriculture.”

 

RIRDC invests in research and development (R&D) for rural industries that do not have a dedicated R&D Corporation and to address multi-industry and national interest R&D needs.  RIRDC also invests in R&D to support new and emerging rural industries.  RIRDC plays a critical role helping achieve more profitable, sustainable and dynamic rural industries.
