Positions Vacant: Ginger RD&E Advisory Panel 23 Jun 2017

The Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation (RIRDC) is seeking the services of suitably qualified people to apply for positions on the RIRDC Ginger Industry Advisory Panel.

The Panel consists of persons with a range of skills and experience in the research, production and processing sectors of the Ginger industry, together with a representative of the Corporation.

The key functions of RIRDC Industry Advisory Panels are to:

  • advise RIRDC on the current state of the industry, and its RD&E requirements;
  • provide recommendations on short-listed research applications consistent with the research priorities identified in the RIRDC Ginger Five Year RD&E Plan;
  • advise on and assist with the dissemination, adoption and commercialisation of R&D; and
  • encourage industry voluntary contributions and co-investment by other stakeholders to support Ginger RD&E.

Please note that Advisory Panels do not hold any financial delegations. Panel members are entitled to sitting fees for meetings and travel expenses.

The Ginger Advisory Panel will meet, on average, twice per year, either in person or via teleconference. Additional meetings may be held where a need a can be demonstrated. Panel members will be appointed by the RIRDC Managing Director, following consultation through Duncan Farquhar with relevant industry stakeholders. The term of appointment is for three years. The member appointed as Chair of the Ginger Advisory Panel will also sit on the wider RIRDC Plant Industries RD&E program Advisory Committee.

Unless special circumstances are apparent, members of the executive of the Ginger Industry Association of Australia are not eligible to apply to sit on the Advisory Panel.
