Objective summary |
To genetically improve the hygienic behaviour of honey bees; decrease problems of bee diseases and to increase hive productivity.
To identify hygienic behavioural traits in established breeding lines. Use that information to breed hygienic lines by controlled open mating (Rottnest Island) and instrumental insemination.
To improve the hygienic quality of queen bees; provide disease resistant stock to the Australian industry and boost productivity of the hive through cleaner brood combs. |
