Horticulture Australia Limited

Horticulture Australia Limited (HAL) is a not-for-profit company that invests in research, development and marketing programs to provide benefit to horticultural industries and the wider community. HAL is owned by the peak industry bodies of 39 Australian horticultural industries covering fruits, vegetables, nuts, amenity and extractive crops. As part of the Federal Government’s commitment to rural research and development, horticultural industries can access matching Commonwealth funding through HAL for research and development activities.

HAL invests around $80 million of industry levies, voluntary contributions and matched Federal Government funds annually in R&D programs designed to align with the strategic investment priorities of Australia’s horticultural industries and the Federal Government’s Rural Research and Development priorities. An additional $16 million of industry levies is invested annually in strategic marketing programs.

Meat and Livestock Australia

Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) is a producer-owned company, working in partnership with industry and government to deliver world-class services and solutions for a profitable and sustainable red meat and livestock industry. 

MLA provides marketing and research services and solutions to the Australian red meat industry including livestock producers and lot feeders, meat processors, wholesalers, foodservice operators, retailers, meat and livestock exporters.

MLA's core activities include:

Cotton Research and Development Corporation

CRDC invests in and manages a portfolio of research, development and extension projects that seek to enhance the environmental, social and economic values associated with cotton production systems and to increase benefit to cotton industry participants, regional communities and the Australian people.  

CRDC invested in industry participation in skills-related processes, particularly by young people, women and cotton communities, including indigenous members of those communities. Skills development is an important element of a strategy that seeks to result in attraction, retention and development of the best and brightest for our agricultural sector and, in particular, cotton production.

Australian Egg Corporation Limited

The Australian Egg Corporation (AECL) is a producer owned company which integrates marketing, research and development and policy services for the benefit of all stakeholders. AECL is mainly funded through statutory levies collected under the Egg Industry Service Provision Act 2002 and Australian government funds for the purposes of research & development.

AECL represents approximately 400 commercial egg producers who distribute a range of products to the local market including caged eggs, barn-laid eggs, free range eggs and specialist eggs.

AECL is one of 15 Rural Research and Development Corporations (RDCs). RDCs bring industry and researchers together to establish research and development strategic directions and to fund projects that provide industry with the tools to compete in global markets.

Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation

The Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation - RIRDC - is a statutory authority in a unique partnership with the Australian Government and rural industries to invest in research and development that will create the knowledge to support a more profitable, sustainable and dynamic rural sector.   To achieve this, we invest in new industries, selected established industries and national rural issues.  These industries extend across food and fibre, ranging from stapes such as rice and chicken to new and emerging industries such as crocodile skins, truffles and olives.

Through our wide network and extensive advisory committee structure, RIRDC is able to identify the strategic knowledge needs of stakeholders and select and manage the best R&D investments to meet those needs..

Agrig8

agrig8 is the Australian division of Lallemand, which is a global company with several thousand employees. Lallemand specialise in yeast and bacteria production and provides technical solutions for the wine, beer, baking and nutrition industries (animal and human) throughout the world.

agrig8 offers microbial feed ingredients (Probiotics) to  offer a safe and natural solution to some of the challenges faced by animals in our intensive feeding systems globally. Animal production needs to be intensive to be able to feed the world population with diminishing land resources as populations expand. agrig8/Lallemand is committed to providing products that are technically exceptional and have reliable, consistent performance when added to the diets of animals and humans.

While microbial feed ingredients are relatively new in the Australia, under its Quality Silage Systems brand, agrig8 has provided silage services since 1991, using proven Lallemand inoculants to enhance quality and Silostop Sealing Systems for superior silage pit and stack sealing.

Woolworths - the fresh food people 

Woolworths Limited is Australia's largest retailer. It owns some of the most trusted brands in food & grocery, liquor, petrol, general merchandise and consumer electronics retailing. Woolworths has a significant commitment to to investing in the future of rural Australia by supporting and promoting sustainable food supply through its Fresh Food Future program.

Under this umbrella Program, Woolworths invests in two key areas of sustainable production and industry capacity building. To ensure that we have a sustainable food supply long into the future, we need to attract young people to join the agriculture sector and invest in developing the future industry leaders.

With an investment of $3.25 million in 2010, the Fresh Food Future program draws together a number of ongoing and new initiatives. Investing in Youth is one of these initiatives that Woolworths is proud to support.

Grape and Wine Research and Development Corporation

GWRDC is an Australian Government statutory authority whose mission is to generate information that enhances the profitability, international competitiveness and sustainability of the Australian wine sector through investment in research and development.

GWRDC supports the development of the grape and wine sector through planning and funding research and development programs and facilitating the dissemination, adoption and commercialisation of the research result throughout the sector. Our funding comes from levies on the annual winegrape harvest and matching funds from the Australian Government.
