Strategies and Expectations

Key strategies for 2010-11 

  • To provide clear signals concerning R&D needs and priorities for 2010-11
  • To encourage and support discussion between Australian agriculture, RIRDC and the research, development and extension (RD&E) sector, that will enable future needs to be identified and incorporated in annual and longer term planning
  • To provide a budget framework for investment in global challenge RD&E for the next five years.

Expected key outputs for 2010-11  

  • National Agricultural Productivity Forum held in 2010
  • Annual workshop of stakeholders in relation to life cycle assessments (LCAs)
  • Development of one on-farm took for measuring emissions, water or energy use
  • Ongoing support of the Managing Climate Variability program
  • Annual workshop of industry and government leaders to review emerging priorities

Expected key outcomes for 2010-11

  • Identified enhancements to the definition and methodology for productivity
  • Established framework for international comparison for measuring productivity
  • Continued leadership in the development of a common methodology for LCA
  • Engagement with other Australian export industries to understand emerging
