National Rural Issues
The aim of RIRDC's National Rural Issues Portfolio is to provide the knowledge to address Australia's national rural issues.
RIRDC has a specific mandate to invest in R&D into national rural issues – those issues that are multi-sector and national in scale and scope. In addressing these issues, RIRDC is focussed on the profitability, resilience and sustainability of our rural sector and communities. These investments in R&D support the rural policy priorities of government and the priorities of rural industries and communities.
RIRDC works with governments and industry to identify the national rural issues for investments in R&D. RIRDC’s mandate for multi-industry and cross-sectoral R&D is pursued through strategic partnerships with co-investors across other research and development corporations, government and industry.
