The Program's main focus is on cashmere, mohair and alpaca fibre. However, camel hair and other rare animal fibre projects could be included.
The estimated GVP of alpaca, cashmere and mohair fibre in 2006-2007 was $3.6m. Compared to the previous year, production remained stable for cashmere, up 32 per cent for alpaca and down 5 per cent for mohair.
Projects funded in 2007-2008 covered many segments of the value chain for production (alpaca, mohair, cashmere) to marketing (mohair).
