Summary |
The overall Program Objective is the continued development and release of new hybrid eucalypt varieties to the Australian Floriculture and Nursery Industry Sectors.
In this project, new varieties will be selected from hybrid eucalypts, generated during RIRDC Project UA-52A, growing in the Laidlaw Plantation, Waite Campus, using the selection methodology developed during RIRDC Project UA-52A. Varieties will be selected for the floriculture and the nursery industry sectors. Varieties will be streamed into “product ranges” targeted at specific markets following the release strategy developed to maximise market share.
Varieties selected will be tested for production capabilities: specifically postharvest vase life and response to propagation by grafting. Commercially viable propagation systems will be refined in collaboration with the Industry Partner, and selected varieties released to the floriculture and nursery industry sectors.
PBR registration will be applied for on selected varieties. It is anticipated that at the end of this project, ten varieties will have PBR protection and will be commercially released.
The Business Plan, first produced during RIRDC Project UA-67J, will be updated to reflect progress in the program. |
