A keynote speaker at next month’s Australian New Crops conference in Gatton (Qld), Dr Goldsmith said the way in which companies cooperate to supply what the consumer wants is a major factor in determining their profitability.
One of the world's leading authorities on all forms of networking between commercial partners, Dr Goldsmith will speak at the conference on September 22 and will focus on networking in new crop industries, the role of the cooperative and new generation cooperatives and the nature of limited liability partnerships and other forms of networking.
Of particular value will be his discussion of how new networking models can lead to more effective management of the supply chain from producer to consumer.
The conference will be held at the University of Qld Gatton campus from September 22-24. Dr Goldsmith will also be participating in a number of pre-conference workshops on September 20 and 21.
Dr Goldsmith’s His research interest is structural change in the agri-food supply chain and its effect on agribusinesses and farmers; in 1997, he was the winner of the prestigious Edwin G. Nourse award for outstanding research on cooperatives.
Dr Goldsmith holds an academic post in Agribusiness Management in the Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics at the University of Illinois, USA.
"This will be an opportunity for those who feel the traditional forms of networking are no longer appropriate for their business to hear of the latest developments with cooperatives and other forms of networking", the chairman of the Organising Committee, Dr Rob Fletcher, said today.
